Two people hurt in east side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Metro police are investigating two people shot  outside a gas station on the city’s east side early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after midnight, an IMPD officer who was in the area of East 42nd Street and North Franklin Road heard shots being fired and asked to be allowed to check it out.

Meanwhile police dispatchers received a call from someone reporting they had been shot in that same general area.

Police located a man and a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside a home in the 8100 block of East 37th Street.

Both were taken by ambulance to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital.  Their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

The couple told police they were shot at while sitting in their car at a Marathon Gas Station at East 42nd Street and North Franklin Road.
